A Question For Female-Identifying Followers

This question is to answer a discussion I am having with a fellow writer, there’s no right answer, and I’m not looking for a particular conclusion.

I once did an informal survey of the female readers I met online, what comic book got them hooked on comics. Not their first, not their favorite, but the one that particularly made them a dedicated comics reader. This was several years ago, before I turned pro, and it was astonishing but the entire group could be narrowed down mostly to issues of just five different titles. Those five titles (X-men, Teen Titans, Swamp Thing, Sandman, and one other I am struggling to remember…it might have been Strangers in Paradise?) had accounted for making the vast majority of casual or first-time female identifying readers into longtime comic book readers.

I found that kind of remarkable.

So now, there are a lot more female readers available to answer this question, and I suspect the answer will be more diverse, but in any case, whatever it was, please feel free to answer…there is no particular data I am looking for except the truth.

So.

If I may ask, what comic made you a comic book reader?
