As for Little Jakarta, it’s just that feeling that Metropolis and Gotham shouldn’t be all white European, I like a DCU that shows more diversity than that.
Another factor is that the book’s artist, Ardian Syaf, lives in Indonesia and I knew he would bring a sense of reality to it. The original scene explored the area quite a bit more, but I had to edit it down and begin in media res, as it were.
Hope to get to show more of the area and its citizens, especially if Ardian can draw it!
And we DO have a Singapore story coming up, it’s a ways away, but it’s going to be lovely, I hope!
