Allow Me To Rave About Something
A twitter friend sent me this Youtube link. I almost never link to video on Tumblr (it seems like Tumblr is more for still images), but HOLY CRAP.
This is a Cosplay Fever Lip Dub, produced at the MCM Expo in London. I went to this event last year, it’s one of the most fun events I’ve ever been to, my first in the UK.
The organizers and the readers were absolutely unbelievably kind and hospitable, and the UK comics scene impressed the hell out of me. But the cosplayers were ABOVE AND BEYOND, including a special group that warmed my heart, a Secret Six group with some of the most astounding cosplayers I had ever met.
This video again puts a nail in the coffin of the goofyass stereotypical notions of what cosplay is about. These people are dedicated artists, they are hilarious and beautiful and handsome and stunning and gorgeous and everything great about fandom wrapped up in a package they carry on their bodies.
And this short film is a terrific show of all that, just a giddy joy to watch. If someone here on Tumblr was involved in making this, please speak up!
Also, I met several of these cosplayers, and this video made me miss them and the great MCM Expo terribly, it’s in a truly beautiful location right on a river. I WANT TO GO BACK.
