Batgirl And Batwoman
…are both in Batgirl #12 today. I asked both Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III if they were okay with Kate appearing and both were endlessly supportive, which just shows that they are real gentlemen as well as being brilliant creators.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t used Batwoman much, she just feels so personally wrapped up with those two guys. The only time I have written her at all was a brief cameo in Wonder Woman #600. But it felt like it was time for the two Gotham redheads to meet.
If you haven’t been following Batwoman, you are missing something very special. The previous Batgirl stories are some of the best superhero stories DC has ever published. The art, by J.H (and Amy Reeder on a couple issues), is phenomenal, eye-popping. When you ask artists who is the best artist out there, a huge number will say J.H. Williams III on BATWOMAN. And they’d be right.
Additionally, it’s the highest profile lgbtq comics character in DC history, done with taste and dignity.
I am proud and honored to have her visit Barbara. I hope those two get together again because there is real chemistry there.
