Okay. I Give Up

I don’t watch a lot of television for a number of reasons, and when I do, it’s rarely anything current or serialized.

However, people have been bugging me to try Avatar for years now, and I give up, I will try it.

Is there more than one series? Is there an order beyond just watching the series in sequence?

Will I like this thing?

Gail, you are in for a real treat! As everyone has been saying, start at the beginning with the series Avatar: The Last...
  3. almostnormal-ish said: It has strong character development and an interesting and unique premise. So it should be enjoyable to anyone with the patience to sit down and watch
  4. schwathing said: Just adding to the crowd of people saying DO IT YOU WILL LOVE IT. I only caved myself just recently, and was blown away.
  5. unloadyourload said: OMG! Do it! 3 seasons, ~66 episodes. It is THE template for telling episodic stories on TV.
  6. wingnutlady said: You are not prepared. It is a joyous thing.
  7. shleechan said: Avatar: The Last Airbender is three seasons long. The new series, Legend of Korra, just came out earlier this year and has had one season (it was only like 12 episodes). You won’t be disappointed!

There’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, which, I believe you should start with first, then, the continuation of it is...
  9. sparklyslug said: it is impossible to not like avatar, as it just might be the best show. Ever. I’m not a huge fan of the Legend of Korra sequel, but the three seasons of Avatar are golden, so well-written, and just fantastic. Please watch it!
  10. fuckandyes said: There are three seasons of Last Airbender. That’s where you start. And, with the very little I know about you from this tumblr, I cannot imagine you not liking it. It is a wonderfully pure, fun, exciting, sad fantasy show.
  11. sartorialing said: Avatar is lovely. The Last Airbender runs for three seasons; there is a sequel series called Legend of Korra, which aired earlier this spring. I would say Avatar is superior, though Korra is insanely amazing.
  12. stophelping said: Everyone’s given good advice, so all I will say is that I’d love to hear your thoughts on the series as it progresses.
  13. socialpirrannhafx said: You will LOVE it.
  14. ladiesmakingcomics said: YOU. WILL. LOVE. IT.
  15. pagannerd said: Yes! You’ll love it! There’s two series, One called Avatar: The Last Airbender (or Avatar: The Legend of Aang in some countries) which had three seasons, and series 2, Avatar: The legend of Korra, which has had one season so far. It’s. Amazing.
  16. fanboywatchtower reblogged this from gailsimone and added:
Gail this series is Amazing! i will eat my collection of Secret Six with eggs if you don’t like it!
  17. daggerpen said: Watch Avatar: The Last Airbender from the first to last episode. Then watch Korra. Korra isn’t as good, alas.

Do it Gail. You won’t regret it. Great story. Great characters. Great entertainment.
  19. bathedinflames said: You will probably love it. There are 61 eps at about 20mins each. I’m sure you’ve had enough replies to know that by now, but I’ll give one additional piece of advice. You should NEVER watch the live-action movie. I hope you enjoy the show. :)

There are two series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “Avatar: The Legend of Korra”. The former is the original series...
  21. whatlander said: Avatar: the last airbender has three seasons, each named after an element. In order, they are water, earth, fire. There’s a good chance you’ll like it. It starts out very childish, but quickly evolves into a story/character driven show
  22. junkieofdata said: There are two series: Avatar the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra. Avatar the Last Airbender comes first, and has three seasons, which are numbered like “Book One”, “Book Two”, etc. Other than that, just watch them in order and you’re fine.
  23. wrestlingaknife reblogged this from gailsimone and added:
First things first: you will like this thing. Thus far, there’re three seasons of the original show and one season of...

If you still have Netflix, you can get it on there. There are three seasons, conveniently labelled Books 1, 2, and 3....
  25. bernardin said: you will love it. no, strike that: you will lurve it. (And just watch them in order. And when you’re done, watch The Legend of Korra. And then wonder why every kids’ show isn’t as rich.)
  26. shortstackcomics said: There’s a new series called Legend of Korra, but I personally think that the original Avatar is better in plot and character development. I think you can watch them out of order and still understand it. I started at Book 2 Earth. :)
  27. timholtorf said: You might, it’s a pretty decent series. I was kinda ho-hum about it and I watched it and was quite surprised. Just steer clear of the fandom.
