Anonymous asked: I have been reading comics for the past three years, the first two in trade form, then I was brought in with the New 52 proper.Your Birds of Prey was one of the first trades I read, and I feel hard. But I've been sad with DC's treatment of Cass and Steph.I liked Cass in part because like myself, she seems to have a little bit of a mental disability. Is this one reason why we have not seen her? Their friendship gave me hope to make one like theirs. Thanks for your comics. I hope all is well.

Thank you for this heartfelt post.

This is another reason why bringing back Cass is a good idea, there are LOTS of folks who see themselves represented in her, in a way that they do not see in any other character, for a number of reasons. I quite simply feel she’s one of the best and most important character creations in comics in decades.

I don’t think that had anything to do with her not appearing…my understanding is they they felt the character had lost a little bit of what made her unique. If they are going to relaunch her, I suspect they want to make sure they recapture those early stories of Cass. HOWEVER, I am purely speculating here and your guess is as good as mine.

I do miss the friendships in the DCU, but it takes time to make that happen and they wanted to establish the characters in their own books first. You can see that those friendships are starting to happen again, tentatively.
