Anonymous asked: "Heroes shouldn’t have happy personal lives. They are committed to being that person and committed to defending others at the sacrifice of their own personal interests.” I know writing Batgirl and superhero comics is your dream job, Gail. But how does anyone work under these conditions to produce a product where the same grim tone must be applied to every book? Why can't we see our favorite heroes happy?
I don’t like so many books having a similar tone, I think that’s a mistake across many publishers right now.
Batgirl was ALWAYS going to have a hard slog at first, part of the concept was that things shouldn’t suddenly be rainbows and light just because she’s younger and back in the cowl.
But yes, I absolutely want to show her happier side and very soon. Should have happened by now.
And apparently, I misheard Dan’s comments, I was sure he was talking about the bat-family. Apologies, everyone!
